Using a fork, mix flour, bran, wheat germ, brown sugar, baking soda and salt in a bowl.In a separate, smaller bowl beat together egg, yogurt or buttermilk and vegetable oil. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix well. Then add in your fruit or chocolate chips, as preferred. Here are some combinations I sometimes use:
Put into paper muffin cups in a muffin tin. Bake 350 degrees for about 20-25 min.This makes about 12-14 muffins.
